Head-heavy or head-light? Stiff or flexible? 3U or 4U? A clear guide to the numbers on a Yonex racket — and how to match them to your game.
By United Sports Editorial

Walk along a wall of badminton rackets and the differences can look cosmetic. They aren't. Three characteristics — balance, shaft flex and weight — shape how a racket behaves, and understanding them is the fastest way to narrow the field.
Balance describes how weight is distributed between the head and the handle. It's the single biggest influence on how a racket feels in play.
A flexible shaft bends more during the swing and releases that energy at impact, which helps players with slower or developing swings generate power. Stiffer shafts bend less and reward fast, technically sound swings with precision and control.
Yonex marks weight with a U rating — a higher number means a lighter frame. 3U frames are heavier and more stable; 4U is the most common all-round choice; 5U frames are very light and quick. The G rating describes grip size, where a higher number indicates a thinner handle.
